What is TFI Leap Card?

The TFI Leap Card is a contactless smart card for automated fare collection overseen by Transport for Ireland.

  • A TFI Leap Card is a prepaid travel card that is the easiest way to pay your fare on public transport around Ireland. It is valid on most TFI services and commercial bus operators throughout Ireland.
  • It’s more convenient because you don’t have to carry cash or queue at ticket machines and it can save you money because fares are usually up to 30% less than cash single tickets.

TFI Leap Card can be used on the following services

  • Irish Bus
  • Dublin Bus
  • Go-Ahead Ireland
  • DART and Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail commuter rail services in the Short Hop Zone and on the
  • Cork to Cobh/Midleton train lines in Cork
  • Luas
  • Private operators such as Ashbourne Connect, City Direct, Matthews Coaches and Wexford Bus.

How to top-up your leap Card?

You can top-up your TFI Leap Card in a number of ways:

  • The most popular way is to download their Leap Top-Up app for free and use it to add credit, check your balance and collect tickets
  • At TFI Leap Card outlet
  • At Luas, DART and commuter rail ticket machines
  • On-board selected bus operators
  • Use Auto Top-Up for regular top-ups to be debited from your bank account
  • Online at leapcard.ie, but please note if you top-up online, you still have to collect your travel credit or ticket at either a TFI Leap Card outlet or another nominated load location.

  • Visit here.
  • Select your Card Type (Adult, Adult Personalised, Child 5 – 15, Child 16 – 18, Young Adult 19-23, Student, Visitor)
  • Select your Top-Up Travel Credit (€).
  • Click Submit.
